I am currently listening to this song, “Love Is Waiting” by Brooke Fraser. I have been listening to this song today for almost 5 times already, and it is still playing now (as what I’ve typed, “I am currently listening to this song”). This song really speaks to me. It could be that I could relate to it, but mainly because God speaks to me through this song. It’s about waiting for that person He has prepared for you in this life He has given you.
Truly, waiting is somehow hard. I remembered a quote in a Philippine movie entitled “Miss You Like Crazy”,
“Time is meaningless when you’re in love.”
God waited patiently for us. Why did He wait for us? He waited for us because He loved, loves, and will love us forever. He wanted us to be “like Him” (1 Peter 1:16). Who is He? Why does He want us to be like Him?
God is patient. He is forgiving. He doesn’t keep any record of wrong (1 Cor. 13:4). God is love. If He has those characteristics, it should also be evident in our lives. It is not about being legalistic, but it is all about our passion to obey God (as what I’ve learned from a mentor of mine). He has given His Spirit to us to convict us of our fleshly ways, and He sent His Son for us to be saved and to be redeemed.
Love is waiting. Are you willing to wait for Him? Surely, His plans are great and out of the grasp of our knowledge (1 Cor. 2:9). Sometimes, or somehow all the time, we wait for the wrong thing. We wait for God’s blessing, not God Himself. We focus too much to the blessing, not to the One who gives the blessing. As you continuously grow in your relationship with Him – a deep one (the one with a deep foundation), you’ll understand more about how rewarding and satisfying it is to wait for God.
I believe that God desires us to be patient in every way and in everything/everyone. He especially wants us to wait for Him, as He has been patient for us (but it should be out of a willing heart). God would love to use you and bring you to His plans in your life right now. He couldn’t bring you to His plans if you are too focused on something that you shouldn’t be focused to at this moment and if you are continuously pushing yourself to your own plans. Why not pause and ponder : “Instead of focusing on what I want, why not focus on the things that God wants for me?”. Isn’t it amazing to muse upon God’s wonderful and awesome creation? How much more beautiful His plans would be for all of us, people, who were created by His own image and likeness (Gen. 1:27)?
Remember, He has planned everything before you were born. I mean, He even planned your birth! So, why not trust Him and His plans? You won’t regret it. 😉
